Healthcare Superintendent I/II
This position is based out of our Charleston, SC regional office.
As a Superintendent supporting our Charleston region, you'll take full field ownership of construction projects from mobilization to closeout, driving safety, schedule, and quality on every site you lead. Depending on your experience, you'll step in as a Superintendent I building your leadership foundation, or a Superintendent II owning schedule strategy and developing the next generation of field talent.
This role calls for a superintendent with healthcare construction experience, where precision and standards run higher than most. You'll bring that expertise to partner with owners, design teams, and trade partners, delivering mission-critical healthcare spaces safely and on schedule, all while doing it The Samet Way.
What You'll Do
- Provide daily field oversight across all phases of assigned construction projects, maintaining safe and efficient job site conditions.
- Develop, manage, and communicate project schedules, including 4-week look-aheads and CPM updates, to keep every trade aligned on deliverables.
- Lead weekly coordination meetings, pre-install meetings, and schedule meetings that keep construction activities moving efficiently.
- Manage subcontractor performance and scopes of work, reviewing manpower, equipment, and materials against schedule commitments.
- Implement and enforce Quality Control/Quality Assurance programs, setting clear expectations for the field team.
- Promote an injury-free job site through Samet's award-winning safety program, including weekly inspections and documentation.
- Oversee punch lists to ensure all tasks are resolved before project closeout, and coordinate with AHJs and third-party inspectors on approvals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, designers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Assist in developing and submitting RFIs, and support PMP development as needed.
- Ensure site work is completed according to project plans and specifications, and that all safety and quality documentation is accurate and current in Samet's project management system.
- As experience grows, mentor and develop other field personnel, communicating clear performance expectations and supporting their career path.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of construction superintendent experience (Superintendent I: 3-5 years; Superintendent II: 5-7 years).
- Healthcare construction project experience (required).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Understanding of Lean Construction practices and LEED Green building requirements (preferred).
- Demonstrated mastery of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Strong scheduling and sequencing skills, with the ability to think strategically about project flow.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build trust and inspire confidence across teams and stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a genuine commitment to safety and quality.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, walk on rough or uneven surfaces, use hands and fingers to feel or handle office equipment and files, reach with hands and arms, drive, bend, climb stairs or ladders, balance, kneel, crouch, turn or twist, talk, see, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, handle hand and/or power tools, and may infrequently be required to crawl. Work Environment: The work environment is a construction site in various stages of completion. The workspace can fluctuate from low to high noise levels and low to high light levels. Unpleasant or potentially harmful fumes may occasionally be present (proper PPE will be provided). The temperature of the work environment is variable based on location and season. Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, long correspondence, and memos. Ability to write complex correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one, small, and large group situations to Associates or clients of the organization.
Computer Skills: Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office suite, industry-prevalent construction software, and SharePoint. Ability to interact with associates over the internet via Zoom or Teams. Ability to type professional correspondence.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates and Licenses: A valid driver's license is required.
