Position Summary
We are seeking energetic, dependable, and enthusiastic Part-Time After School STEM Instructors who are passionate about working with children and making learning exciting.
No prior STEM teaching experience is required—we provide comprehensive paid training and curriculum. This is an excellent opportunity for college students, aspiring teachers, educators, engineering or computer science students, retired teachers, and individuals looking for meaningful part-time work.
Responsibilities
· Teach engaging hands-on STEM lessons using the Idea Lab Kids curriculum.
· Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
· Supervise students throughout all program activities.
· Encourage creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
· Build positive relationships with students, parents, school staff, and fellow instructors.
· Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness.
· Follow all company safety policies and emergency procedures.
· Travel to nearby partner schools within approximately a 5-mile radius, as needed.
· Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to create an exceptional learning experience.
· Represent Idea Lab Kids professionally at all times.
STEAM Subjects
Experience with one or more of the following is a plus (training is provided):
· LEGO Robotics
· Coding & Programming including Scratch Programming
· 3D Design & 3D Printing
· Engineering Design Challenges
· Circuits & Electronics
· Culinary Science
· Art
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required.
· College coursework in Education, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field is a plus.
· At least one year of experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, childcare, or working with children preferred.
· Strong communication and classroom management skills.
· Passion for inspiring and educating children.
· Enthusiastic, energetic, patient, and dependable.
· Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to nearby school locations.
· Clean driving record preferred.
· CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
· Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Schedule
· Part-time
· Monday–Friday
· Approximately 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM
· Additional opportunities during school breaks, camps, and special events.
