Accentuate Staffing is working with a rapidly growing manufacturing organization in the Triangle area that is investing heavily in automation, digital manufacturing, and operational scalability. This company is focused on building highly efficient, technology-driven production environments and is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer to lead the design and implementation of advanced automation systems. This role offers strong visibility and impact, directly supporting initiatives that improve throughput, quality, and overall operational performance.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in automation engineering, with hands-on experience designing and deploying control systems, robotics, and integrated manufacturing solutions. This individual will lead projects from concept through execution, working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and external partners while driving continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 initiatives. Experience with warehouse or logistics automation technologies is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of automation systems across manufacturing and material handling operations.
- Manage full project lifecycles including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and technical documentation.
- Program and optimize control systems including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, and vision systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to integrate equipment and ensure seamless system performance.
- Drive digital manufacturing initiatives, including system connectivity with MES/ERP platforms and smart factory technologies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting continuous improvement and operational efficiency goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience leading automation or controls engineering projects within manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in PLC and HMI programming using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar.
- Experience with robotics, motion control, vision systems, and material handling or warehouse automation technologies (e.g., conveyors, AMRs, AGVs).
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time and within budget.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a continuous improvement mindset; PMP or similar certification preferred.
