Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistants to provide high-quality support to individuals in various care settings. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, home health, or long-term care, with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those in need. Prior experience working with seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring memory care is highly valued. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, cooking and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs and overall condition; report changes to healthcare professionals
- Administer medication and follow care plans as prescribed by medical providers
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers safely
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to infection control protocols
- Document patient observations accurately while respecting HIPAA regulations
- Support clients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other developmental disabilities
- Follow safety procedures during patient handling, including heavy lifting and use of assistive devices
- Participate in ongoing training related to patient care, CPR, first aid, and other relevant certifications
Requirements
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care, or group homes is preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation, medication administration, and care planning processes
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable; willingness to obtain necessary certifications upon hire
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professionalism and compassion
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare providers
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and assisting with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring memory or dementia care is advantageous
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; reliable transportation is preferred for home visits
