Duties
- Safely operate hazmat tanker transport while strictly adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety and mechanical equipment are in proper working order.
- Conduct the loading and unloading operations of hazardous materials in a safe and efficient manner.
- Navigate routes efficiently using dispatch and GPS navigation tools to meet delivery schedules while maintaining safety standards.
- Handle hazardous materials logistics following all hazardous materials regulations for containment, labeling, and documentation.
- Deliver product promptly to various destinations while maintaining a professional demeanor and excellent customer service.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery records in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery status or any issues encountered during routes.
Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat certification; must be current and compliant with all DOT regulations.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, preferably OTR driving involving hazardous materials for at least 5 years.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently; tanker experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ELOG, TMS and GPS navigation systems to optimize deliveries.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials handling procedures, and DOT compliance standards.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor to include handling transfer hoses and navigating ladders and catwalks.
- Experience working within logistics/cargo handling environments with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Excellent driving record (MVR & CSA) demonstrating safe operation over time; previous delivery driver experience preferred.
