Construction Carpenter Forman
DCH Contractors LLC is a family owned and operated business servicing multi disciplined construction projects in the Philadelphia PA region. The company specializes in high rise residential renovations, boutique commercial interiors and custom carpentry projects. DCH Contractors was established in 2003 by David C. Horlacher bringing with him over 40 years of urban construction experiences.
Job Overview: Leads, directs, and performs all carpentry tasks assigned and assists in coordinating the work of subcontractors and/or DCH Contractors trade labor. The Carpenter Forman is responsible for ensuring safety, quality of work performed and adherence to budget of the project. The Carpenter Forman will assist in supervisory responsibility for jobsite activity and reports directly to the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities*
- General Construction Carpentry Work as listed in following sections.
- Oversee and making decisions related to the performance of work related to carpentry tasks, delivery of required materials, logistics, quality control and trade employees.
- Oversee work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolving design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment and all other appropriate matters in conjunction with Project Manager
- Manage the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with DCH Contractors standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations
- Create daily schedules and determine sequencing of work of carpentry tasks with coordination with site specific trades. Develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
- Communicate with owners and project managers in connection with field issues. Investigate and resolve such issues.
- Manage the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
Daily Tasks & Responsibilities*
- General Carpentry tasks involving – receiving and handling of project materials and equipment as required, metal and wood framing, insulation, suspended ceiling systems, wall board installation and finishing, installation of doors, frames, and hardware, trim work, millwork, accessory installation, mirror and artwork hanging, custom shop fabrication of specialty items, selective demolition and removal as required, general jobsite cleanup and organization of project site as directed by supervisory authority.
- General Forman tasks involving – insuring jobsite is clean and free of debris, creating and implementing weekly and/or daily work lists based on project specific tasks, organization of jobsite materials and equipment, ability to recognize and inform management for need of project materials and equipment, continuous communication with Owner, Project Manager and Superintendent.
- General Employee tasks involving – record keeping of weekly time and description of duties performed, company’s shop organization and general tidiness, timely arrival to jobsites and/or shop locations as directed, care and custody of company tools and equipment
Qualifications: Minimum of six years of related field experience. Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling and procedures, drawings and specifications, including Microsoft Office Suite proficiency. Ability to read understand and interpret contract documents, drawings specifications, scope of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
