Standard Steel is a leading manufacturer of forged steel wheels and axles for freight railcars, locomotives and passenger railcars. It is the only producer of forged steel wheels for railcars and locomotives in North America. Customers include major Class I railroads in North America, freight railcar builders, railcar and locomotive maintenance shops, the Amtrak national railroad, locomotive builders and regional transit authorities.
Standard Steel, LLC, and its affiliated companies were purchased by Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation in 2011, but the existing facility has been producing forgings since 1795. In 2012, Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. merged with Nippon Steel Corporation to become Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, the majority owner of Standard Steel.

Passes all lift truck testing as required to be a licensed Lift Truck Operator in Machine Shop 1.

SNYDER DRESSING MILL OPERATOR
JOB DUTIES

Completes necessary quality inspections using certified measuring devices to assure all products stay within acceptable tolerances as provided by the company.

Completes production and maintenance reports as required and follows production planning as assigned by Supervision.

Verifies, indexes, changes, and maintains proper tooling on the machine(s) as necessary and notifies Supervision when additional tooling is required.

Monitors product for imperfections requiring rework, completes rework machining when necessary, and/or applies proper identification markings on the product when necessary.

Keeps the machine(s) clear of turnings.

POSITION SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience performing mathematical concepts related to machining.

Ability to safely and precisely operate / utilize CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, and associated tooling including setup.

Experience accurately utilizing precision measurement equipment and hold tolerance.

LIFT TRUCK OPERATOR - WHEELS

Operates an overhead crane in Machine Shop 1 to transport and position products, equipment, material, and other miscellaneous items necessary for daily operation.

Greases finished hubs and installs protective pads on finished counter turn wheels.

POSITION SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
