Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing staff in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
Perform administrative duties such as completing reports, evaluations, charting, IV therapy, discharge planning and accidents/incident reports as necessary. Collaborate with physician(s), resident's/patient's and family in planning resident's/patient's care, treatment, rehabilitation, etc. as necessary.
Monitor nursing care to assure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect. Sets priorities in meeting the needs of residents.
Ensure that established policies and procedures, including dress codes and ID badges are followed by all department personnel. Ensure that RNs, LPNs, and CNAs attend scheduled education events. Assist in providing education on units as assigned.
Collaborate with support departments on an on-going basis to ensure a positive new admission or transfer experience, such as, room readiness, medical information transfer, and resident/patient personal belongings. Ensure that communication occurs between shifts on status on new admissions and transfers.
Make rounds of patients/residents to ensure needs are adequately met. Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions. Keep Unit Manager/ Director informed of the status of residents and other related matters through written/oral reports.
