Fazeli Cellars seeks a Line/Prep Cook with prior experience. Provide assistance to Chef in directing day to day activities as our new culinary program grows. *Weekends Only*
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs multiple-tasks smoothly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions and guidelines
- Experienced in safe operation of commercial food service equipment
- Proficiently being able to utilize a wide range of kitchen tools and utensils, include chopping knives and vegetable grinders
- Washes, chops, grates and slices vegetables to go in various dishes.
- Cuts and slices meats to the appropriate portion sizes.
- Complies with special food handling requirements for certain dishes such as vegan or gluten-free.
- Be responsible for ensuring that leftover food is stored properly
- Perform kitchen maintenance tasks such as emptying the trash and washing dishes, and testing the temperature of food at specified intervals
- Makes lists of items that need to be ordered and assists in keeping the kitchen organized
- Set-up and clean equipment for daily food preparation
- Receives deliveries and stores food in refrigerators and freezers.
- Prioritized prepping duties to meet deadlines in a fast-paced kitchen
- Maintain safe, sanitary prep stations and orderly work area
- Back up to Chef and Sous Chef as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Previous restaurant experience a plus.
- Attentive to quality and detail
- Must have a clear understanding of safe food handling and good hygiene
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to juggle multiple kitchen duties at one time
- Able to focus on preparation of banquet foods for up to 200 people
- Knowledge of health/safety codes
- Has attention to detail and the ability to follow direction and abide by standard operating procedures.
- Must be able to speak English
- Consistently striving to be better.
- Current Food Handlers Card
- Ability to stand for long periods of time throughout entire shift.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
