Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, slicing, and chopping according to recipes and safety guidelines
- Assist in meal assembly and food presentation, adhering strictly to recipe specifications and portion control
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, slicers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Support the culinary team with menu planning ideas and ingredient prep for daily service or special catering events
- Follow food handling procedures meticulously to ensure proper storage, sanitation, and safety protocols are upheld
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation of dishes and effective communication during busy service hours
Skills
- Proven experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, including slicing, dicing, and portioning
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for consistent results
- Experience with menu planning, meal prep, and recipe adherence in a fast-paced setting
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with kitchen staff and supporting team efforts
- Background in food service or restaurant environments demonstrating reliability and professionalism
- Knowledge of catering processes and experience working in the food industry is a plus
