American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health (Geriatric Psychiatric) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and MOAB certification, with night shift availability every other weekend.

Inpatient Behavioral Health unit in a hospital setting

Geriatric psychiatric patient population with diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression; experience with degenerative disorders (Alzheimer's, ALS, Parkinson's) required

Patient ratio of 1:8 with an average daily census of 15 across 14–20 beds

Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)

Every other weekend required

No on-call requirements

Floating required per unit needs

EMR: Epic (Pyxis also used on unit)

13-week contract with the option to extend or work up to 48 hours per week

Active RN license in NC or a compact state (may submit with license pending)

Current BLS and MOAB certifications required

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Geriatric behavioral health experience is required

Inpatient psychiatric experience required

Experience caring for patients with bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, and degenerative disorders (e.g., Alzheimer's, ALS, Parkinson's)

Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)

Epic EMR experience preferred

Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are accepted at a different pay rate

Previous permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; prior employment history and facility rehire approval will be required

Unit orientation is 24 hours; weekly orientation schedule

Pre-start modules required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles); modules must also be completed annually and are completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, or in-person classes

Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; RTO of 7 days or fewer may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday

Scrub color requirement: solid navy blue or white

Travel pairs are permitted; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
