Rutgers Preparatory School is seeking creative, energetic people who love to work with children for our After School Program. This job’s start date is September 3rd and the application window begins nowand goes through August. The working hours are either 2:30pm to 5:30pm M-F, or 3:00pm to 5:30pm M-F, and the pay rate is $20 per hour. To apply for this job, it is required that you can work during one of these two time frames.
After School Program staff supervise all of the after school play and activities of children enrolled in the Rutgers Preparatory School. The age range of our students is from Pre-K to 8th grade, divided up into three groups and locations based on age (preschool, elementary, and middle school). ASP teachers oversee safety, interact with and help students while they work on homework, set up and help with arts and crafts, and play games both indoors and outdoors. ASP teachers keep students engaged in intellectual, creative, artistic and physical activities while supervising for safety. Playground supervision includes basketball, soccer, a gaga pit, and general play. The work environment is fun and supportive. Bring your ideas, energy and creativity to have fun with the kids!
Responsibilities include:
- Help students follow established school rules, routines and schedules
- Follow directions and requests from ASP Coordinators
- Supervise, play with, and help individuals or small groups of students
- Participate and assist with arts and craft activities as well as outdoor play to keep students engaged
- Support students to follow safety rules including re-directing them or intervening when conflict resolution is needed
- Communicate clearly and cooperatively with all ASP staff members
- Set up and clean up activities and spaces as needed
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Be available to arrive on time for a start time of either 2:30pm or 3:00pm
- Have childcare, summer camp, or other experience working with children
- Provide 2 references
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
- Valid Photo ID
- Pass background check and other HR paperwork including RPS job application and State of NJ fingerprinting process for educators
Hours:
- Two different shifts are available: 2:30 to 5:30pm and 3:00 to 5:30pm M-F
