We are seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be the backbone of both our Microbiology and Analytical Chemistry laboratories. You will handle the critical, foundational tasks that keep our labs running safely, efficiently, and accurately.
No college degree is required for this role. We are looking for someone who is naturally "science-minded," possesses an eagle eye for detail, and takes pride in maintaining a meticulous workspace. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity with potential for cross-training into basic sample preparation as you master the core responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
In the Microbiology Lab:
- Prepare growth media and reagents according to strict protocols.
- Operate autoclaves for sterilization of equipment and waste.
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store laboratory glassware and dishes.
- Clean and sterilize specialized lab equipment.
- Perform routine calibration checks on pipettes to ensure accuracy.
In the Analytical Chemistry Lab:
- Accurately prepare chemical buffers and solutions.
- Wash and prepare specialized chemistry glassware.
- Process incoming samples through grinding and homogenization.
- Perform precise subsampling for analytical testing.
- Perform routine calibration checks on pipettes.
General Laboratory Duties:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Assist with inventory tracking of lab consumables and chemicals.
- When time permits: Receive cross-training to assist with basic sample preparations in both laboratories.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required (Degree in science is not required).
- Mindset: A strong interest in science, laboratory environments, or manufacturing quality control.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional focus on accuracy; ability to follow strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines without cutting corners.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to [e.g., 30–40 lbs], and handle repetitive tasks (like washing dishes and grinding samples) with enthusiasm.
- Reliability: Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Pay: $39,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
