Job Summary
The Part-Time After Care Director at St. Louis Catholic School oversees and supports the daily operations of the aftercare program, ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for students after school hours. This role is responsible for program planning, staff supervision, compliance with state and school guidelines, and fostering positive relationships with families and school personnel while supporting the academic and faith mission of the school.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM–5:15PM
Age Requirement: 18+ years of age
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the planning and coordination of the After Care program and its daily activities.
- Ensure implementation and compliance with all state, diocesan, and school guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the individual needs of children are met in a safe and supportive environment.
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, families, school personnel, and volunteers.
- Maintain an environment that ensures the safety and well-being of children, staff, and families.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
- Conduct the program in alignment with the school’s academic goals, Catholic values, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to aftercare support staff and volunteers.
- Support the growth and ongoing development of the After Care program.
- Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in/sign-out records, and required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding expectations, student behavior, and program updates.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in childcare, camp, recreation, or a related field (preferred).
- Sixty (60) college semester hours with at least twelve (12) hours in child-related coursework (desired for programs serving up to 60 children; not required).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage groups and mentor staff.
- Self-motivated with knowledge of group work and child development principles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to use standard business software and typical office equipment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Physical Mobility: Walking, climbing stairs, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Physical Dexterity: Ability to operate a telephone, computer, electronic devices, and office equipment (fax, copier, stapler, etc.).
- Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Sensory Requirements: Ability to hear, listen, speak, see, smell, touch, taste, and distinguish colors.
- Communication: Ability to speak clearly and effectively and respond appropriately to children, families, and staff.
- Emergency Response: Visual, auditory, and physical ability to act quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
