Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home health environments. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, monitor their health and well-being, and promote independence while ensuring safety and comfort. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safe and accurate delivery of treatments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, including resident’s rights, progress notes, and incident reports in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning resident areas to uphold a safe and hygienic environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive atmosphere that promotes mental well-being.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health care is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s care), memory care strategies, and hospice or palliative care practices.
- Ability to perform patient transfers safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods; experience with manual handling is essential.
- Certification or training in CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance, and medication administration is strongly recommended.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities—including developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism—and supporting intellectual disabilities is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining a caring attitude.
