The Assistant General Manager assists the General Manager in overseeing and directing all aspects of hotel operations including guest service, engineering, rooms, food & beverage, accounting and human resources. The Assistant General Manager directs operations in alignment with the direction of the General Manager, Company, brand standards and local, state and national regulations. Impresses guests with quality and timely service in a pleasant and friendly manner.
- Guest Satisfaction – Resolve guest complaints as appropriate to maintain guest satisfaction. Regularly review service scores to identify areas needing improvement and implement appropriate changes
- Human Resources –Recruiting, hiring, training, development and retention of a motivated and efficient staff. Clearly communicate to associates the standards of performance and their role in contributing to individual and team success
- Life Safety/Risk Management – Assist the General Manager with hotel life safety. Direct and promote an accident prevention program to minimize liabilities and related expenses
- Asset Management - Ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place to protect assets and maintenance related problems are reported to Engineering through proper
- Leadership – Keep abreast of brand standards and the competition's products and strengths to continually improve revenues and profit margins while maintaining quality.
- Education and Experience. Requires advanced knowledge of housekeeping/hotel services principles and practices. Five or more years of related experience. Previous Marriott Brand experience is helpful
- Skills and Abilities: Display consistent professional leadership while simultaneously handling competing and changing priorities and projects. Remain positive, resourceful and possess the ability to improvise while working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure
Qualifications
- Supervising experience in a hospitality setting
- Strong background in hotel management and revenue management
- Exceptional customer service and guest relations skills
- Proficiency in budgeting and human resources
- Previous experience in front desk operations and night audit
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for this role
