The Legal Assistant plays an important role in supporting both clients and attorneys throughout the legal process. This position helps ensure matters progress efficiently by providing administrative and case support while contributing to the exceptional client experience that reflects Sodoma Law's core values of service, collaboration, professionalism, and excellence.

Based in our Belmont office, this position works closely with attorneys, clients, and court personnel throughout Gaston County and the surrounding communities.
This role offers hands-on family law experience and room to grow, whether you are beginning your legal career or building on prior legal support experience.
The successful candidate is highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They communicate effectively, take ownership of their work, and are committed to providing exceptional client service while upholding Sodoma Law's core values.
How You’ll Contribute
Prepare, file, and serve legal documents, correspondence, and court filings, including electronic filing.
Maintain case files, manage calendars, track deadlines, and support attorneys in keeping matters organized and progressing efficiently.
Assist with hearings, trial preparation, and courthouse filings by organizing exhibits, notebooks, and case materials.
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and third parties while helping ensure an exceptional client experience.
Provide administrative and operational support through document management, file maintenance, and other projects that support the legal team and office operations.
What Set you Up for Success
High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.
Eagerness to learn and grow in your career.
Experience in customer service, administrative support, or a professional office environment preferred; legal or law firm experience is a plus.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) & Adobe.
Experience with legal technology platforms, including NetDocuments and Cosmolex, preferred.
Familiarity with Gaston County and the surrounding communities, and a desire to engage with and build connections within the local community, is a plus, but not required.
