Note: This opening is for a veterinary assistant who can work weekends (Friday and Saturday each week).
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing care for animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Take and develop x-rays
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Provide assistance with dental cleanings
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary staff
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures and medical terminology
- Proficiency in animal restraint techniques
- Attention to detail for accurate record keeping and medication administration
