Site Survey Specialist — Commercial Reality Capture (Contract / 1099)
Job type: Contract (1099) Location: Remote / US-based — extensive nationwide travel required Pay: $650–$1,000 per completed survey, depending on site complexity and location. Travel covered on top.
Summary
We are hiring a Site Survey Specialist to conduct commercial site surveys across the United States. This is a field role for someone with a construction background who can walk into a commercial building, document it accurately, and trace the systems that are never labeled — domestic water entry, RTUs, electrical service and distribution, plumbing, and above-ceiling conditions.
You will travel to commercial sites (restaurants, retail, office, mixed-use) and produce precise site documentation using 3D scanning / reality capture (Matterport), thermal imaging, and a proprietary reporting platform. Full training in our tools and methodology is provided. This is a field survey and reality capture role, not a desk job.
Responsibilities
- Travel to commercial sites across the US, often on short notice
- Conduct full site surveys and capture 3D scans / digital twins (Matterport or similar)
- Document MEP systems: locate the domestic water entry, identify and map RTUs, trace electrical service and distribution, and document plumbing
- Inspect and document above-ceiling conditions and building systems
- Capture thermal imaging and 360° documentation as required
- Produce clear, accurate site survey reports using our methodology and reporting platform
Required qualifications
- Construction background or strong working knowledge of how commercial buildings are assembled (trades, site supervision, MEP, facilities, or project work)
- Strong problem-solving skills and persistence — the determination to keep investigating until hidden or undocumented building systems are found and confirmed
- Willingness to be trained in and follow a specific survey methodology
- Comfortable working independently and representing a brand professionally on client sites
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (citizen, green card holder, or valid work visa). We cannot sponsor for this role.
- Able and willing to travel extensively across the continental US on short notice
- Good communication skills, fluent in English
- IT literate
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with reality capture, 3D scanning, or digital twin tools (Matterport, NavVis, or similar)
- Experience conducting site surveys or documenting building systems and MEP
- Familiarity with thermal imaging or 360° image capture
- Ability to read floor plans, MEP drawings, or as-built documentation
- Prior experience with the operation of drones is a plus
- Familiarity with AI tools a plus (ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, etc)
- Located near a hub airport also a plus
Pay and details
- $650–$1,000 per completed survey, based on site complexity and location
- All travel covered on top of survey pay: flights, ground transport, and meals
- Trips are run efficiently — typically out-and-back within a single day, even for cross-country sites
- Regular, ongoing work — typically around 2 surveys per week, with potential for more
- Full training in all tools and methodology provided
We are deliberately not seeking a chartered or licensed surveyor for this role. This is a field role that rewards construction knowledge, problem-solving, and persistence over formal credentials — and we train the rest.
Pay: $650.00 - $1,000.00 per day
Language:
- Fluent English (Preferred)
Work Location: On the road
