General Summary: Under the general supervision of Medical Technologist or Laboratory Director, the MLT performs, interprets and correlates clinical laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner to assist physicians in patient diagnosis and treatment.
Essential Job Functions*:
- Demonstrates the ability to set priorities.

Maintains turn-around time standards in Emergency Department, timed, and STAT testing. Performs all testing in a timely manner.

Maintains flexibility required to adapt to laboratory needs as related to testing and scheduling.

Writes legibly and accurately, with complete documentation.

Documents quality control procedures performed.

Verifies the name of tube or specimen with requisition, and investigates abnormal results. Consults with appropriate personnel when test findings are abnormal and when difficulties are encountered in testing.

Documents preventative maintenance performed.

Ensures that supplies are available, and notifies appropriate personnel when low.

Complies with OSHA and regulatory requirements by following established procedure in order to maintain a safe laboratory environment and meet accreditation standards.

Correlates test results with diagnosis, and questions incompatible results. Correlates laboratory methods, procedures, and patient test results with age-specific population criteria, i.e. geriatrics, adults, pediatrics, and neonates.

Demonstrates broad knowledge of all laboratory departments.

What We’re Looking For:
Required:
Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
Internship in a hospital laboratory
Successful completion of the registration exam of a nationally recognized licensing agency, i.e. ASCP, NCA, ASCLS
Detail oriented and organized
Able to work under pressure
Have good manual dexterity and good color vision
