Learning Cove Academy is a small, innovative microschool serving students in a warm, family-like environment. We believe children learn best through hands-on experiences, meaningful relationships, outdoor exploration, and individualized instruction.
Unlike traditional schools, our students enjoy regular field trips, farm and nature-based learning experiences, gardening, animal interactions, cooking projects, sensory activities, and opportunities to learn beyond the four walls of a classroom. We are seeking a passionate, nurturing, and enthusiastic Lead Teacher who enjoys working with children and wants to be part of a growing school community.
Position Overview
The Lead Teacher will guide students through daily academic and enrichment activities while fostering a positive classroom environment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a small group of students, build meaningful relationships with families, and help create engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.
This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys creativity, flexibility, outdoor learning, and being part of a supportive school community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Foster a positive, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment
- Guide students in their academic, social, and emotional development
- Create engaging learning activities that meet the needs of students
- Adapt instruction and activities to support varying learning styles and abilities
- Lead small-group and whole-group instruction
- Participate in field trips and community-based learning experiences
- Incorporate hands-on learning opportunities such as gardening, cooking, science activities, crafts, and outdoor exploration
- Supervise students and assist during farm-based learning activities and animal interactions
- Monitor student progress and communicate concerns with administration
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to support student success
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students throughout the school day
- Assist with daily routines, transitions, and classroom management

Qualifications
- CDA credential or Associate's Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Exceptional Student Education, or a related field required
- Experience working with children in a classroom setting
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Positive, patient, and flexible attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Creativity and enthusiasm for hands-on learning
- Ability to participate in outdoor activities and field trips
- Must be able to pass all required background screenings

Monday–Friday
8:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
