Job Summary
The Building Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance team in ensuring that the building, grounds, and equipment are safe, functional, and well maintained. This role assists with routine repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and general upkeep of the property.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with routine building maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC support.
Perform basic repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing light fixtures, patching walls, and minor equipment repairs.
Conduct regular inspections of building systems and report issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of mechanical rooms, storage areas, and maintenance spaces.
Assist with preventive maintenance schedules for building systems and equipment.
Respond to maintenance requests from staff or tenants in a timely manner.
Assist with seasonal maintenance such as snow removal, landscaping support, and exterior upkeep.
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
Follow safety procedures and building regulations at all times.
Support emergency maintenance tasks when needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous maintenance, preferred.
Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) is an asset.
Ability to use common maintenance tools and equipment.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
