Position Summary
P&B Intermodal is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily intermodal maintenance and yard operations. This is a hands-on leadership role in an active mechanical repair facility and intermodal yard environment.
The Operations Manager maintains a strong presence in the shop and yard, working directly with technicians and terminal supervisors to ensure safe, compliant, and available equipment.
This role is well suited for candidates with experience in fleet maintenance, trailer repair, heavy equipment service, intermodal equipment operations, or mechanical repair environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily intermodal maintenance and yard operations supporting chassis, trailers, and containers
- Maintain a strong field presence in the shop and yard to support teams and resolve issues in real time
- Lead and hold maintenance teams accountable for productivity, repair quality, and safety
- Prioritize repairs based on equipment availability and operational demand
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and customer requirements
- Monitor repeat repairs, out-of-service trends, and safety performance
- Ensure accurate work order, repair, and parts documentation using mobile systems
- Track labor efficiency, overtime, and parts usage
- Identify process improvements and drive corrective actions
- Report operational performance and KPIs to senior management
Requirements
- Experience in fleet maintenance, trailer repair, heavy equipment service, intermodal equipment operations, or mechanical repair environments preferred
- Experience leading technicians or maintenance teams in an active shop or yard environment
- Working knowledge of chassis and trailer maintenance operations preferred
- Ability to lead technicians and supervisors in a hands-on shop and yard setting
- Comfortable working daily in an outdoor yard and mechanical shop environment
- Strong decision-making skills in fast-paced operational environments
- Experience tracking operational performance, labor efficiency, and repair activity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
