General Sales Manager — Columbia CDJR
Who we are:
Columbia CDJR is a family-owned Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership 45 minutes south of Nashville, part of a five-store automotive dealership group. We are in the middle of converting the dealership to a velocity model — market-based day-1 pricing, true-cost accounting, no packs inflating vehicle cost, fast reconditioning, and a hard aged-inventory discipline. Our target is 150+ retail units a month, and we need a General Sales Manager to own that number.
This is not a gross-grinding dealership. If your proudest number is your front-end PVR, this isn't the fit. If your proudest number is your turn rate and your total department gross, keep reading.
What you'll do
- Own the entire variable operation — new, used, and F&I — and the store's monthly unit target
- Lead and develop the desk managers, F&I team, and sales floor; hire and staff for volume
- Drive our pricing discipline: units priced to market day 1, aged-unit rules enforced without exception, no appraisal sandbagging
- Own inventory strategy — stocking mix, acquisition, reconditioning speed, and turn (we run vAuto/ProfitTime)
- Run the daily cadence: save-a-deal, dead-deal logs, appointment culture, and a published weekly scoreboard
- Forecast monthly and manage the department to total true gross — front plus F&I, after chargebacks
- Partner with the dealer and GM on the velocity conversion; you'll help finish the build, not inherit a finished machine
How you're paid
Monthly guarantee plus a percentage of total department true gross (front + F&I, after chargebacks) and an uncapped volume bonus that escalates as the store's monthly unit count climbs. When the store wins, you win — there is no ceiling on this plan.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years as a GSM or GM — or a proven Sales Manager ready to step up — at a store retailing 100+ units/month, OR senior leadership at a high-turn/one-price operation (CarMax, EchoPark, or a velocity-model franchise store)
- Fluency in market-based pricing, true-cost accounting, and inventory turn metrics (vAuto/ProfitTime strongly preferred)
- A track record of building volume floors: recruiting, training, and retaining salespeople paid on units, not grinding
- Command of F&I performance — you manage the handoff and the back-end numbers, not just the desk
- CRM discipline (we run DriveCentric) and comfort being measured weekly on a published scoreboard
- Valid driver's license; ability to work Saturdays
Why this role, right now
You'd be joining at the start of the rebuild, not after it. The cost structure has been reset so deals pencil competitively, the pay plan is built to reward volume without a cap, and the group is growing — five stores across four states, with room for people who perform. Our leadership reviews one scoreboard weekly; if you produce, everyone will know it.
To apply: submit your resume with a short note including the average monthly unit volume and total department gross of the store you currently run..
