Job Summary
Almost Home is seeking a motivated and compassionate Resident Assistant / Caregiver to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support at our Specialized Alzheimer's Care Assisted Living Facility. Your energetic approach will help enhance residents’ quality of life by assisting with daily activities, managing health needs, and creating a warm, safe environment where everyone feels valued and cared for.
Responsibilities
Our assisted living caregivers will care for Alzheimer's patients at all levels by performing the following:
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene, assisting at the toilet, and mobility support
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care strategies
- Assist residents with medications, accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols
- Perform various household duties including dusting, sweeping, mopping, laundry, making the bed, emptying the trash, etc.
- Prepare nutritious meals, assist residents during meal times, and clean up after meals
- Engage residents through meaningful activities, behavior management techniques, and social interactions
Experience
- CNA or prior assisted living or nursing home experience preferred, especially in geriatrics or senior care environments
- Knowledge of safe patient lifting practices and manual handling techniques preferred
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and client communication skills
- Background in home & community care or residential care homes is highly advantageous
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively in a caregiving setting
Schedule
- 8 hours shifts - 40 hours per week
- 1st shift is 7:00am - 3:00pm
- 2nd shift is 3:00pm - 11:00pm
