Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will oversee preparation and review of federal, state and local tax returns, identify tax planning opportunities, manage client relationships, and mentor a small team. This role requires a licensed CPA and strong technical tax knowledge; experience serving agricultural clients or high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) is a plus.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of tax compliance for corporate, partnership, trust and individual clients, including review and approval of federal, state and local tax returns.

Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and support client business objectives.

Supervise, mentor and review the work of junior tax staff and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines and firm standards.

Serve as the primary client contact for tax-related matters, build trusted advisor relationships, and communicate complex tax concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Research complex tax issues, interpret new legislation and provide guidance on tax accounting, reporting and compliance implications.

Coordinate and manage tax provisions, estimates and reporting for clients as needed, including collaboration with accounting and audit teams.

Oversee tax controversy and audit support, prepare responses to tax authority inquiries, and represent clients in examinations when appropriate.

Identify opportunities to grow client engagements and support business development efforts, including contributing to proposals and client presentations.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, regulations and industry trends, particularly in areas relevant to agricultural businesses and HNWI tax needs.

Implement and improve tax processes and leverage tax software and technology to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications

Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.

Minimum 5+ years of progressive tax experience with public accounting or a comparable environment; prior supervisory experience preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws for corporations, partnerships, trusts and individuals.

Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns and tax provision calculations.

Excellent client service and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical matters clearly.

Proven leadership and team development skills, including mentoring and performance management.

Proficiency with tax research tools and tax preparation software (e.g., CCH, Thomson Reuters, Lacerte, UltraTax) and advanced Excel skills.

Comfortable managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Experience or familiarity with agricultural client tax issues and tax planning for high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) nice to have.

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field; Masters in Taxation or CPA with continued professional education is a plus.
