ABOUT SERENITY VIEW
Serenity View is a 16-resident boutique assisted living and memory care community in Fort Worth, Texas — physician-founded, physician-led, and intentionally small. Our residents receive individualized, dignified care in a home-like environment where every detail matters. That includes the food they eat.
We are not a cafeteria. We are a home. The kitchen is the heart of that home, and the founding culinary team carries a direct and personal responsibility to the residents they feed every day.
KNOCKOUT REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements are non-negotiable. Candidates who do not meet all of them will not be advanced in the process, regardless of other experience or qualifications.
KNOCKOUT REQUIREMENTS — All must be met to be considered
- Current, valid Texas Food Handler Certification (must be active at time of hire)
- ServSafe Food Manager Certification (strongly preferred; must be obtained within 60 days of hire if not already held)
- Reliability and availability to cover assigned shifts consistently, including weekends
Applications that do not meet all of the above requirements will not be advanced regardless of other experience.
THE ROLE
The Sous Chef is the essential second member of the Serenity View kitchen team. Together with the Chef, you are fully responsible for all 21 meals served to residents each week — breakfast, lunch, and dinner, seven days a week. There is no large back-of-house team. What you bring to every shift matters directly to the people you are feeding.
Cooking and Meal Preparation
- Prepare and cook meals according to the established menu, resident dietary profiles, and community standards
- Follow resident-specific dietary restrictions, allergies, and texture modifications precisely — minced, pureed, mechanical soft, and full diet as documented
- Ensure all meals are served on time, at proper temperature, and presented with care
- Support breakfast, lunch, and dinner service across all assigned shifts
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen throughout every shift
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols consistently
- Assist with inventory tracking and communicate supply needs to the Chef proactively
- Perform all cooking, cleaning, and side work associated with daily kitchen operations
- Accurately document any resident dietary observations or changes in the designated meal management platform
Team and Communication
- Coordinate closely with the Chef to ensure seamless shift transitions and full meal coverage across all seven days
- Communicate proactively with care staff regarding resident dining observations or changes
- Contribute to a warm, home-like dining experience that residents and families look forward to every day

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT
Serenity View is not a large institutional kitchen. You will know your residents by name. You will know what each resident can and cannot eat, what brings them comfort, and what matters to them at mealtime. That relationship is part of the role.
This is a founding role. You will help establish the rhythm, standards, and culture of the Serenity View kitchen from day one alongside the Chef and our Medical Director.
The Chef carries executive responsibility for kitchen management, menus, and documentation. Your role is to be the skilled, reliable second in command who ensures the kitchen runs well on every shift — independently when needed, collaboratively always.
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
