Local contractor seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Grounds Maintenance Laborer.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Preparation: Removing old grass using cutters, leveling, tilling, and grading soil for proper drainage.
- Sod Installation: Transporting, laying, and cutting sod rolls/pallets to fit landscaped areas, often at a fast pace.
- Equipment Operation: Using tools such as wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels, rototillers, and, in some cases, skid-steer loaders.
- Maintenance & Clean Up: Watering newly laid sod, trimming, fertilizing, and clearing debris from job sites.
- Irrigation Setup: Installing or repairing sprinkler systems to ensure proper sod hydration. U.S. Department of Labor (.gov) +5
Job Requirements
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently and work on foot while bending/stooping for long periods.
- Weather Tolerance: Ability to work in extreme heat, cold, rain, or wet conditions.
- Experience: Often entry-level, but requires the ability to learn techniques quickly, though some roles ask for prior landscaping experience.
