Job Details
Roles and Responsibilities
- Gain and showcase knowledge of coffee preparation techniques using equipment such as, but not limited to, espresso machine, coffee grinder, coffee brewer, etc
- Prepare and serve beverages and baked goods according to recipes with precision, consistency and quality
- Create syrups and cream tops for drinks and ensure they are replenished stocked at all times
- Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and scales
- Prepare desserts, food, and pastries
- Maintain knowledge of coffee varieties, brewing techniques, and flavor profiles to assist customers with their selections and provide recommendations when needed
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including espresso machines, ovens, food processors, etc
- Properly label ingredients and prepped items for easy identification
- Deliver exceptional hospitality to our guests and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere
- Be engaging and present yourself appropriately during interaction with customers and colleagues
- Operate the point-of-sale system and handle payment transactions accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized and well-stocked store in all areas, including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas.
- Assist with restocking and replenishing store inventory and supplies
- Comply with all food safety and health guidelines
- Wash dishes and take out trash to the communal building trash bin
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to foster a culture of teamwork and ensure an effective and efficient workflow
- Be willing to learn and adapt to new systems and methods
- Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs and standing for extended periods, often for the duration of your shift
Qualifications/Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in food service (barista or prep cook experience preferred)
- Passion for coffee, food, and genuine hospitality
- Punctual, reliable, and able to maintain a consistent attendance record
- Friendly, team-oriented attitude with a desire to grow within our family
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely
- Have a CA Food Handler’s Certification or abilities to attain one within 30 days of hire
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoon, and weekends
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques and kitchen equipment
- Ability to gauge customers’ preferences and provide recommendations
- Strong communication skills
- Can reliably commute to and from work and arrive on time. On-time is 5-minutes before your shift starts
Shift and Schedules
EXPECTED HOURS: 30 - 35 per week
- Opening shift, Mid shift, Closing shift
- Weekends required
