We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team.
Position Summary
The PACU Registered Nurse (RN) assists in the daily clinical operations of the Pre-Op and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in accordance with established Federal, State, AAAHC/CMS accreditation standards, and practice policies and procedures. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care before and after vascular and procedural cases while ensuring a clean, organized, safe, and efficient clinical environment.
The PACU RN monitors patient status throughout the perioperative period, supports physicians and procedural staff, and promotes high-quality patient care and safety standards in the outpatient vascular surgery setting.
Reports To: Angio Suite Nursing Director / Clinical Leadership
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the Pre-Op and PACU setting
- Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and documentation before and after procedures
- Monitor patients recovering from procedural sedation and anesthesia
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
- Assess and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, medications, and discharge instructions
- Ensure accurate and timely charting within the EMR system
- Maintain patient safety and infection control standards throughout all phases of care
- Assist physicians and procedural staff during patient preparation and recovery
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe clinical environment
- Ensure proper stocking and maintenance of clinical equipment and supplies
- Participate in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and accreditation readiness activities
- Follow established Federal, State, OSHA, HIPAA, AAAHC/CMS, and practice guidelines
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow and positive patient outcomes
- Assist with emergency response procedures as needed
- Support overall clinic and Angio Suite workflow and patient experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Current BCLS certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Minimum two (2) years of clinical nursing experience required
- Clinical experience with an emphasis in PACU, surgery, emergency room, critical care, or procedural care required
- Knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, HIPAA, and accreditation standards
- Strong understanding of patient assessment, procedural recovery, and emergency response protocols
- Experience with EMR systems such as Athena, Epic, or similar
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and patient service skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in vascular surgery, interventional radiology, or outpatient surgery center environment
- Moderate sedation recovery experience preferred
- Experience with AAAHC or CMS accredited facilities
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- IV therapy and procedural care experience strongly preferred
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- Day shift schedule
- Rare overtime or occasional weekends as needed
- Travel between office locations may occasionally be required
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $55.00 – $75.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications
This is a per diem position working variable hours based on patient volume and operational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and assisting patients
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
- Frequent use of computers, phones, and EMR systems
- Ability to assist with patient transfers and movement
- Occasional lifting of supplies or equipment up to 25 lbs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical and procedural environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff throughout the day
