Part-Time
SUMMARY: The Dispatcher supports the day-to-day operation of the district's student transportation service. A central purpose of the position is to serve as the primary point of contact in the transportation office at times when the Supervisor is driving a route or otherwise away from the office to meet operational needs. Working from established routes and procedures, the Dispatcher handles parent and school communication, relays information between the office and drivers, and assists with routing and scheduling under the Supervisor's direction.

Serve as the primary point of contact in the transportation office when the Transportation Supervisor is driving a route or otherwise away from the office to meet coverage needs, keeping the office staffed and responsive.

Answer parent, guardian, and school inquiries about routes, stop times, and delays; resolve routine questions and refer other matters to the Supervisor.

Relay dispatch information to drivers and communicate route changes, delays, and coverage updates on the Supervisor's behalf.

Assist the Supervisor with building and adjusting daily routes, stops, and driver assignments in the district's transportation software.

Enter and update student ridership, address, and stop information.

Help arrange substitute drivers and coverage for driver absences.

Assist with scheduling field trip, athletic, and special-event transportation.

Maintain route, ridership, and driver records used in daily operations.

High school diploma or equivalent.

One or more years of experience in scheduling, dispatch, logistics coordination, transportation, administrative support, or a comparable operations role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful completion of a criminal background check as required for school employment.

Working knowledge of the Haslett community and school geography preferred.
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor
Classification: Part-time, non-exempt, non-affiliated coordinator position
Wages/Hours: $25/hr; approximately 15 hours per week, scheduled primarily around morning and/or afternoon route windows and at times when coverage for the Supervisor is most needed.
