Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring to ensure readiness for cooking and plating
- Assist with cooking tasks such as grilling, sautéing, smoking foods, and assembling dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep station, ensuring all food handling practices meet safety regulations
- Support menu planning by preparing components for daily specials or catering orders
- Follow proper food safety protocols, including proper storage, labeling, and sanitation procedures
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service delivery
- Handle food with care, using knife skills efficiently to prepare ingredients accurately and safely
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus but not required; enthusiasm to learn is essential
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques
