Chief Purpose of the Position
Responsible for managing insurance billing and revenue cycle functions for VCU Dental Care practices supporting the VCU School of Dentistry. This includes claim submission, payment posting, denial resolution, aging follow-up, and insurance-related inquiries to ensure accurate reimbursement and revenue integrity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of dental billing, CDT coding, and revenue cycle processes
- Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Windows-based systems; Google Apps preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to research and resolve payer and claims issues independently
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a dental office or dental billing environment
- 1+ year experience with electronic health records or dental practice management systems
Hiring Range: commensurate with experience
