3-Dimensional Services Group is seeking experienced 3- and 5-Axis Haas Milling CNC Programmer for first shift at our Rochester Hills location.
First Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime and Saturday work may be required based on production needs.
Job Purpose
The CNC Programmer/Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining Haas 3- and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision-machined parts. This role requires strong Haas control knowledge, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to quality, efficiency, and safe manufacturing practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, troubleshoot, and refine CNC programs for Haas 3- and 5-axis milling machines.
- Program and optimize machining operations including drilling, tapping, boring, contouring, pocketing, and complex multi-axis milling.
- Set up Haas CNC mills, including workholding, fixtures, tooling, probes, offsets, and first-piece verification.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies based on material, part geometry, and quality requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, technical drawings, CAD models, and job instructions.
- Monitor machine operation, identify machining issues or out-of-tolerance conditions, and make necessary program or offset adjustments.
- Perform in-process and final inspections using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM equipment as required.
- Troubleshoot Haas machine alarms, tooling issues, fixture concerns, and program-related problems to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, coolant checks, and basic preventative-maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, tooling, and engineering teams to improve cycle times, part quality, and production efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, tooling, offsets, inspection results, program revisions, and production activity.
- Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and housekeeping expectations.
QualificationsRequired Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical training, certificate, or associate degree in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5–7 years of CNC programming experience for Haas milling machines.
- Demonstrated experience programming, setting up, and operating 3-axis and 5-axis Haas CNC mills.
- Experience with CAD/CAM programming software, such as Siemens NX, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar software.
- Strong knowledge of Haas controls, G-code, M-code, tooling, work offsets, fixture offsets, and probing systems.
- Proven ability to set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC milling equipment.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications.
- Experience machining a variety of materials, including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and other production materials.
- Ability to inspect parts accurately and ensure compliance with customer and internal quality requirements.
