Elementary Paraprofessional

Position Overview
The Elementary Paraprofessional is responsible for supporting the classroom teacher in providing high-quality, Christ-centered instruction that nurtures students academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. This role assists in creating a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment while helping meet the diverse needs of elementary students. The paraprofessional serves as an extension of the classroom teacher by reinforcing instruction, supervising students, and modeling Christ-like character throughout the school day.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Support
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily lessons and instructional activities.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce classroom instruction.
- Support students with assignments, interventions, and enrichment activities as directed by the teacher.
- Prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning centers.
- Assist with classroom technology and educational materials as needed.
Classroom Management
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and orderly classroom environment.
- Reinforce classroom expectations and behavior management strategies established by the teacher.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties.
- Encourage positive student behavior while modeling respect, kindness, and Christian character.
Student Support
- Assist students with academic, social, emotional, and organizational needs.
- Encourage student independence while providing appropriate guidance and assistance.
- Observe and communicate student progress or concerns to the classroom teacher.
- Help foster a classroom environment where every child feels valued, loved, and supported.
Communication & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as assigned.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and school information.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in classrooms or with school needs as assigned.
- Maintain a neat, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional and spiritual growth.
QualificationsRequired
- A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the school's Statement of Faith.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or college coursework preferred).
- Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or ministry setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a classroom paraprofessional or teacher assistant.
- Knowledge of elementary instructional practices.
- Experience working in a Christian school environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
