Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Ranch Hand / Equipment Operator to assist with the maintenance and improvement of privately owned ranch properties located in Hardee and Polk Counties, Florida.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining land and equipment, and has experience operating heavy machinery in agricultural or ranch environments.

Duties
- Operate heavy farm machinery including agricultural tractors, forklifts, and other power tools safely and efficiently to support daily farm activities.
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of farm equipment and machinery, including welding and mechanical repairs.
- Manage livestock care by feeding, watering, herding, and ensuring proper animal husbandry practices are followed for cattle, horses, or other farm animals.
- Assist with animal handling procedures such as loading, unloading, and health monitoring to ensure animal welfare standards are met.
- Conduct manual handling tasks such as lifting feed bags, equipment parts, or livestock supplies while adhering to safety standards in production.
- Support planting, harvesting, greenhouse work, and growing operations as needed to maximize crop yield and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment to promote safety and efficiency on the farm.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working outdoors on farms or ranches with knowledge of farming practices and agriculture operations.
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment including agricultural tractors, forklifts (certification preferred), and power tools.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair, maintenance, welding, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations).
- Familiarity with livestock management practices such as animal husbandry, livestock handling, and animal care procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks efficiently in various weather conditions.
- Experience with greenhouse work or growing crops is a plus.
- Basic math skills for measurements and record keeping; excellent manual handling skills; safety-conscious mindset aligned with industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment including:
- Skid Steers / Bobcats
- Backhoes
- Tractors
- Excavators (experience preferred)
- Mowers and other field maintenance equipment
Perform field and pasture maintenance, including:
- Mowing and brush control
- Clearing fence lines
- Road and trail maintenance
- Drainage improvements
- General land clearing and upkeep
Assist with ranch infrastructure projects, including:
- Fence repair and installation
- Gate installation and maintenance
- Culvert and roadway repairs
- Property improvements as needed
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment
- Perform general ranch labor and groundskeeping duties
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance skills preferred
- Experience in agriculture, ranching, land management, construction, or similar outdoor work environments
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather conditions
