Architectural Designer / Emerging Architect – Healthcare Design
TKH | St. Louis, Missouri | In-Office
Where are the architects and designers who want to do more than sit behind a screen doing the same task every day?
TKH is looking for an Architectural Designer / Emerging Architect to join our healthcare design team in St. Louis. We are a small, experienced architecture firm focused on healthcare environments — spaces that directly impact patients, families, caregivers, and communities.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow, learn, and be part of real project work from start to finish. You will not be placed in one narrow lane. You will have the opportunity to work on design, planning, construction documents, consultant coordination, code discussions, client meetings, and construction administration as your experience grows.
We are looking for someone who is curious, motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to build a career in healthcare architecture.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will support project teams on healthcare-focused projects including clinics, outpatient facilities, hospital renovations, specialty care spaces, and other medical environments.
Responsibilities may include:
- Preparing and developing drawings in Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Assisting with design studies, space planning, and project documentation
- Coordinating with internal team members, consultants, and project managers
- Supporting construction documents and detailing
- Participating in code research and technical problem-solving
- Assisting during construction administration, including submittals, RFIs, and field observations
- Learning how healthcare projects move from early planning through construction
Who This Role Is For
This role is a strong fit for someone who:
- Wants to grow in architecture, not stay stuck doing repetitive production work
- Is interested in healthcare design and meaningful project work
- Enjoys both design thinking and technical problem-solving
- Wants exposure to real projects, clients, consultants, and construction
- Likes being part of a smaller team where their contribution matters
- Is pursuing licensure or wants mentorship toward stronger project leadership
- Takes ownership, asks good questions, and wants to keep learning
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 5+ years of architectural experience
- Degree in architecture, architectural technology, or related experience
- Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Construction document experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a project team
- Willingness to work in-office/hybrid with our St. Louis team
- Authorization to work in the United States
Healthcare experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to mentor the right person who has the right attitude, work ethic, and desire to grow.
Why TKH
At TKH, you will be part of a focused healthcare design firm where you can learn directly from experienced architects and project leaders. Because we are a smaller firm, you will have the opportunity to see more, do more, and understand how projects really come together.
We believe in mentorship, accountability, problem-solving, and creating environments that support healing, dignity, and care.
If you are looking for a place where you can grow, contribute, and become a stronger architect, we would love to hear from you.
