American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby/Post Partum position requiring a CA RN license, prior travel experience, and 2 years of high-volume labor and delivery nursing experience.

Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit of an acute care Magnet hospital
-
Postpartum patient population including cesarean section, vaginal delivery, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage cases
-
Newborn care population including large for gestational age, low birth weight, and newborn hypoglycemia cases
-
Patient ratio of 1:4
-
Night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30

Floating required between like units and potentially between sister facilities

Uses Epic for charting
-
Active CA RN license required, compact license must be in hand at time of submission

Current certifications: BLS and NRP required; ACLS and CLC preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including at least 1 year in a high-volume facility with 350+ births per month

Prior travel nursing experience required

Epic charting experience required

Skills required include IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, medication administration (antihypertensives, antiseizure, heparin, pitocin), newborn assessment and care, postpartum care and procedures, and pain management

2 professional references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required, may include Charge RNs or Leads

Provide comprehensive nursing care to mother-baby couplets including postpartum assessment, newborn care, and discharge teaching
-
Perform newborn care tasks such as circumcision site assessment, cord care, car seat education, and metabolic screening
-
Support breastfeeding education, use of breast pumps, and baby-friendly protocols
-
Manage postpartum complications including hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and cesarean section recovery

Royal blue scrubs required for RNs

Free parking provided on-site

Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day

RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of consideration; minimal RTO preferred to expedite process

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility

Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50 mile radius

Facility can cancel one shift per two-week pay period
