Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in preparing prescriptions, including compounding and labeling medications with precision. Manage medication inventory, ensuring stock levels are maintained and expired drugs are properly disposed of. Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, verifying patient information, and coordinating medication intake. Support critical care and acute care units by handling specialized medications such as IV infusions with strict aseptic technique. Perform medication administration tasks under supervision, following all safety protocols and medical terminology standards. Ensure compliance with hospital policies related to LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy and aseptic procedures during medication preparation. Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing, intake logs, and patient interactions to support quality assurance.
Skills
Proven pharmacy technician experience with a focus on hospital or LTC pharmacy environments. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medication administration, and critical care protocols. Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique to ensure sterile compounding standards are met. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care and communication. Knowledge of hospital workflows, intake procedures, and acute care settings to support seamless medication management. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and inventory management tools used in healthcare facilities. Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards.
