Engineering associated key responsibilities:
- Provide mechanical design and development services in support of projects, including part and assembly design from conceptual and detail design through manufacturing introduction.
- Utilize SolidWorks solid modeling and drawing software to complete mechanical design for a wide range of components and assemblies composed of stainless steel, chromoly, aluminum and plastics that are manufactured via casting, CNC machining, LASER cutting, CNC forming and molding.
- Manage data and data collaboration using SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM).
- Apply DFMA principles and act as a key liaison with manufacturing and purchasing associates to optimize manufacturability, reliability, performance, and cost.
- Examine and analyze new designs to determine feasibility of operations, tooling, manufacturing, and applications.
- Utilize rapid prototyping techniques and equipment including 3D printers and digital scanners to minimize time to market.
- Assemble and evaluate proof of concept prototypes.
- Prepare and execute component and system verification and validation test plans, including establishing pass/fail criteria.
- Create, manage, release, and maintain BOM's.
- Prepare and update project timelines, assuring compliance with project deliverables.
- Continuously improve critical engineering processes including 3D modeling and drawing best practices, design and data control, verification and validation testing, change order and design release.
- Mentor and support the development of less experienced engineering associates.
- Maintain consistent and documented compliance with all quality, best practice, and relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) requirements.
- Network with industry partners, suppliers, customers, and authorities to identify new technical developments and trends, incorporating these into technological innovations and applications at Weistec Engineering.
Profile Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 7-10+ years designing and developing mechanical products and systems in a manufacturing environment
- 5-7+ years using SolidWords 3D modeling, drawing, PDM and FEA software
- Understanding of multiple engineering disciplines including electrical and electronic
- Understanding of multiple engineering disciplines and standard processes
- Proven ability to apply critical engineering processes in performance of work including GD&T, DFMA, FMEA, PFMEA, root cause analysis, and disciplined problem solving
- Ability to understand and manage complex systems
- Self-motivated, organized, professional and applying strong interpersonal skills applied in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Demonstrated capability to understand and manage complex systems
- Ability to lead a project while managing multiple assignments and prioritizing activities
- Usage of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Professional and other productivity/documentation tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Experience in automotive aftermarket with a demonstrated passion for automobiles
- Ability to prepare renderings
- Knowledge of battery system design, applications and controls. Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with principles of ISO9001, TS16949, 6S, and 8D
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams

- Understanding of Mercedes platforms
- Previous automotive aftermarket experience
Compensation:
- Hourly rate would be determined as per knowledge and experience.
- Commensurate with knowledge and experience.
