My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe is looking for an experienced Pattern Tester & Developer to join our growing Product Development Team.
This position combines pattern development, technical writing, sewing, quilting, machine embroidery, and product testing into one highly collaborative role. The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical—someone who enjoys transforming ideas into polished products while identifying opportunities to improve clarity, accuracy, and the customer experience.

What You'll DoPattern Development
- Reverse-engineer original designs into complete quilting, sewing, and machine embroidery patterns.
- Develop accurate cutting instructions, fabric requirements, assembly steps, and construction details.
- Create prototypes from original concepts and artwork.
- Assist in developing products from concept through final publication.
Pattern Testing
- Test quilting, sewing, and machine embroidery patterns for:
- Accuracy
- Clarity
- Ease of use
- Completeness
- Customer experience
- Verify:
- Measurements
- Cutting diagrams
- Fabric calculations
- Yardage requirements
- Block sizing
- Seam allowances
- Complete projects exactly as written to ensure instructions are accurate and repeatable.
- Identify inconsistencies, errors, missing steps, or opportunities for improvement.
- Test embroidery designs for stitch quality and usability.
- Verify hoop placement, appliqué alignment, stitch sequencing, color changes, and design accuracy.
- Evaluate designs across multiple hoop sizes when applicable.
- Test embroidery files on compatible embroidery machines.
- Document stitch-out results and recommend improvements.
Technical Writing
- Write clear, concise, step-by-step instructions.
- Translate complex sewing and embroidery techniques into beginner-friendly language.
- Create diagrams, illustrations, measurements, and instructional content.
Product Quality & Collaboration
- Collaborate with Graphic Designers, Technical Writers, Product Managers, and Pattern Testers.
- Participate in product reviews and quality control meetings.
- Ensure every pattern meets My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe quality standards.
- Stay current on quilting, sewing, embroidery, and industry trends.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3–5 years of quilting and sewing experience
- Extensive experience creating quilts from commercial or original patterns
- Machine embroidery experience
- Strong quilting math and measurement skills
- Ability to troubleshoot sewing and pattern construction issues
- Experience reading and following complex sewing instructions
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous pattern development experience
- Pattern testing experience
- Experience creating or editing quilting patterns
- Experience with embroidery software and embroidery file formats

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
