The cook performs various food preparation, cooking, and cleaning tasks to ensure the kitchen remains efficient in creating and delivering dishes. You will work along other kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, keeping cooking stations clean, and monitoring the freshness and stock levels in inventory.
Responsibilities
- Properly store food items, keep track of ingredient inventory, and restock supplies
- Prepare food including washing, cutting, chopping, measuring, sorting ingredients, cooking, and plating
- Work with other restaurant staff to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
- Ensure that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
Skills and Qualifications
- Superior dexterity skills to operate cutting tools quickly and safely
- Keen understanding of industry-standard best cooking and preparation practices
- Strong knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling and preparation procedures
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Outstanding communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift up to 40 pounds at a time
- Certified in proper food handling, typically through a ServSafe Certification
- 2+ years of cooking experience in the restaurant industry recommended but not required
- High school diploma/GED preferred
