Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for Substitute Instructional Aides!
Purpose Statement
The role of the Substitute Instructional Aide is to support the classroom teacher and/or program specialist by working with students individually or in small groups to enhance learning and engagement.
Essential Functions
- Providing drill work, enrichment activities, or remedial support
- Reading aloud and storytelling
- Assisting with supervision during emergency drills, assemblies, recess, field trips, lunch, snack, and cleanup routines
- Supporting students with disabilities or severe disabilities, which may include:
- Assisting with personal care such as washing, restroom use, and dressing
- Helping medically fragile students with daily physical needs
- Assisting students with significant behavioral needs
- Working in environments with occasional undesirable conditions or unavoidable hazards
- Tutoring or assisting students with secondary-level curriculum requiring advanced subject knowledge
- Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding student information
Bismarck Public Schools uses Red Rover, an absence management system, that allows substitutes to view and accept available absences as well as receive notifications about available jobs.
