Position Overview
VP Music Group Inc., an independent music company based in Queens with a longstanding focus on Caribbean music and culture, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Marketing Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the Marketing Department and oversee campaigns across our music, catalog, retail, ecommerce, and corporate activities.
Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Sales, this role supervises marketing staff and Product/Project Managers, coordinates internal and external resources, and personally manages selected priority releases and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations, priorities, workflow, and staff of the Marketing Department.
- Oversee marketing campaigns for artists, releases, catalog titles, retail initiatives, ecommerce, events, and company brands.
- Coordinate publicity, social media, digital advertising, radio promotion, content, creative services, and retail marketing.
- Supervise Product/Project Managers responsible for campaign plans, timelines, proposed budgets, and deliverables.
- Review campaign plans and budgets, monitor performance and spending, and keep projects on schedule.
- Lead project-status meetings and coordinate employees, agencies, freelancers, vendors, artist teams, and other partners.
- Work closely with Sales, A&R, Production, Business Affairs, Finance, retail, ecommerce, and international partners.
- Support VP retail stores and ecommerce platforms with promotions, events, product launches, and ecommerce marketing.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in music, entertainment, media, retail, or a related industry.
- Experience supervising people and managing multiple campaigns, budgets, agencies, vendors, timelines, and priorities.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media, advertising, publicity, content marketing, and campaign analytics.
- Excellent project-management, organizational, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work effectively across departments in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of Caribbean music and culture, including reggae, dancehall, and soca, is highly desirable
