Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Radiology Operations Supervisor and Superuser to lead our radiology department and support our clinical application Athena One in the clinical realm . In this pivotal supervisory role the responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of our radiology department while serving as one of the organization's primary clinical superusers for Athena One.
The position provides leadership to the radiology team, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of high quality patient care across all locations. Key responsibilities include supporting and developing radiology staff, optimizing imaging workflows, monitoring departmental performance, and collaborating with clinical and administrative leaders to enhance efficiency and the patient experience.
This individual will lead continuous process improvement initiatives, coordinate onboarding and competency development, and serve as the primary resource for troubleshooting radiology-related systems and workflow challenges.
In addition to radiology operations, this role will develop advanced expertise in the clinical components of Athena One and serve as a key organizational resource for workflow optimization, end-user support, system enhancements, and training. Working collaboratively across departments, the Radiology Operations Supervisor & Superuser will help advance organizational initiatives, promote best practices, and support the successful adoption and ongoing optimization of Athena One throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Operations in the daily oversight of all radiology operations in addition to serving as an ancillary support for clinical operations across the organization as needed
- Partner with the Clinical Operations Manager to ensure consistent clinical workflows through EMR, staffing support, and operational excellence across all locations
- Promote a culture centered on patient experience, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Monitor operational performance and recommend workflow improvements to increase efficiency and enhance the patient experience
- Identify operational issues and implement solutions in collaboration with physicians and operational leadership
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for all radiology staff
- Serve as an advocate for direct reports while maintaining organizational expectations for professionalism, accountability, and service excellence
- Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and training of radiology and clinical personnel in collaboration with clinical trainer
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with staff to provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development
- Address employee concerns promptly while partnering with the Director of Operations and Human Resources on employee relations matters
- Assist with employee evaluations, corrective action, performance improvement plans, and recognition initiatives
- Foster collaboration and communication among providers, clinical staff, radiology personnel, and administrative departments
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the radiology department across all locations
- Maintain active ARRT certification and perform diagnostic imaging procedures as necessary to support patient care and departmental staffing at all practice locations as needed
- Develop staffing schedules and coordinate radiology coverage to ensure uninterrupted patient services for both daily and after-hours operations
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal radiology regulations and accreditation requirements
- Serve as the organization's Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), ensuring compliance with all radiation safety standards
- Ensure all radiographic equipment and autoclave(s) receive required preventative maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and repairs
- Evaluate image quality and provide education and coaching to radiologic technologists
- Develop standardized radiology policies, procedures, and troubleshooting resources for all locations
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, state regulations, and organizational policies
- Monitor radiological workflows to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures
- Assist with audits, incident investigations, and implementation of corrective action plans
- Ensure examination rooms, imaging suites, and shared clinical spaces remain organized, safe, and compliant.
- Identify facility concerns, safety hazards, or workflow barriers and coordinate corrective action.
- Develop ongoing educational programs to improve radiological competency and workflow consistency
- Identify training opportunities and competency gaps
- Promote continuous learning and professional development throughout the radiology team
Super User
- Serve as one of the organization's primary Athena One Clinical Super User
- Lead design and implementation of new workflows within Athena One in collaboration with organizational leadership
- Provide ongoing EMR education, troubleshooting, and support for providers and clinical staff
- Collaborate with operational leadership to optimize documentation, clinical workflows, templates, order sets, and system efficiency
- Work with Clinical Trainer for onboarding new employees and refresher education for existing staff
- Work with Athena One support to resolve system issues and implement best practices
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Management and clinical leadership to improve workflow compliance involving charge capture
Other Responsibilities
- Travel between all practice locations as operational needs require
- Participate in leadership meetings, operational initiatives, and organizational projects
- Maintain required certifications and continuing education
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Current ARRT certification required
- Current Connecticut Radiologic Technologist License required
- Minimum of five years of clinical radiology experience
- Minimum of two years of supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Experience with Athena One Electronic Health Record strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic clinical operations preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
