Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Electricity Instructor at our Orange Technical College - East Campus to inspire and educate students in electrical systems, circuitry, and related technical skills. This role involves delivering engaging classroom and online instruction, developing comprehensive curricula, and fostering a hands-on learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in electrical trades, including experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), hydraulics, HVAC/R systems, automotive diagnostics, and maintenance operations. As an Electricity Instructor, you will empower students from diverse backgrounds to acquire the skills necessary for successful careers in manufacturing, construction, automotive repair, aircraft maintenance, and other technical fields.
Duties
- Deliver engaging classroom training and online instruction on electrical principles, wiring techniques, safety protocols (OSHA standards), and technical skills instruction.
- Develop and update comprehensive course curricula that incorporate current industry standards and educational technologies.
- Utilize educational technologies such as computers, Blackboard learning management system, and simulation tools to enhance learning experiences.
- Provide hands-on training in areas such as wiring, welding, HVAC/R systems, plumbing, automotive diagnostics, and aircraft maintenance.
- Assess student progress through practical demonstrations, written assessments, and project work; offer constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment by working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and accommodating various learning styles.
- Maintain safety standards during practical exercises by adhering to OSHA guidelines and promoting a culture of safety awareness among students.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with post-secondary students in technical or vocational education settings.
- Strong technical proficiency in electrical systems, maintenance & repair operations (MRO), hydraulics, HVAC/R systems (including air conditioning), automotive repair & diagnostics, plumbing, welding, and aircraft maintenance.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Blackboard or similar online instruction platforms, and educational technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to design courses that meet industry needs while aligning with adult education principles.
- Prior classroom training experience combined with a solid understanding of mechanical knowledge across various trades.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds; excellent communication skills tailored for higher education teaching.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards applicable to manufacturing, construction sites, automotive shops, HVAC environments, and aviation settings.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
