The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, organizing, and maintaining the production schedule for the Door Shop and/or Pre-Finish Shop. This position coordinates production priorities and communicates with the Door Shop Manager, Sales, and shop personnel to ensure work orders are accurate, properly prioritized, and completed in a timely manner.
The Production Scheduler plays a key role in balancing customer requirements, production capacity, staffing, materials, equipment, and changing priorities to support efficient shop operations and on-time customer delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a full-time position. Normal days of work are Monday through Friday; shift availability may vary. Hours may need to be extended or adjusted at any time, with or without notice, to meet the needs of the organization.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop, maintain, and communicate daily and weekly production schedules for the Door Shop and/or Pre-Finish Shop.
- Work closely with the Door Shop Manager to ensure appropriate personnel, equipment, materials, and production capacity are available to meet scheduled workloads.
- Review printed work orders from BizTrack for accuracy, completeness, specifications, quantities, and required completion dates.
- Identify errors, missing information, scheduling conflicts, or other issues that could impact production and work with Sales or other departments to resolve them.
- Organize and prioritize work orders based on customer requirements, due dates, production capacity, and shop priorities.
- Organize and distribute work orders to the appropriate personnel and production areas.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed due to changes in priorities, staffing, material availability, equipment issues, rework, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Communicate production priorities and schedule changes clearly and promptly to the Door Shop Manager and affected personnel.
- Coordinate with Sales regarding order changes, rush orders, customer deadlines, and other requests that may affect the production schedule.
- Proactively identify potential production delays and communicate concerns to management and appropriate departments.
- Maintain accurate scheduling records and production documentation.
- Assist with coordinating workflow between the Door Shop and Pre-Finish Shop as needed.
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve scheduling, workflow, communication, and production efficiency.
- Assist in the Door Shop and/or Pre-Finish Shop as needed to support production and operational requirements.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One year of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing, warehouse operations, construction materials, or a related field preferred; or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Previous experience with production scheduling, work-order management, ERP systems, manufacturing operations, or the building materials industry is preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple work orders while meeting deadlines and customer requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors, discrepancies, or missing information on work orders.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and present information in one-on-one or small-group situations.
- Ability to work effectively with Sales, Operations, Management, and production personnel.
- Ability to remain organized and make sound decisions when priorities change or unexpected production issues arise.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Ability to type by touch at approximately 30 words per minute (WPM).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and effectively use BizTrack and other company systems.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish may be a requirement depending upon location.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates primarily in a professional office environment but may require regular interaction with and movement through the Door Shop and/or Pre-Finish Shop. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, smartphones, and other business equipment.
The employee may occasionally be exposed to typical production-shop conditions, including machinery, wood products, dust, and increased noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used when required.
