American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) travel assignment at an academic oncology hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of current ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) within an academic oncology hospital setting
-
Adult patient population managing complex diagnoses including hemorrhagic and hypovolemic shock, sepsis, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium
-
Specialized procedures include external ventricular drain (EVD) management, ICP monitoring, massive transfusion protocol (MTP), mechanical ventilation, heated high flow/BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT, and vasopressor titration

Night shift position: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30

Epic EMR experience required

13-week contract

Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration

Minimum 2 years of current, continuous ICU experience required — experience must be active within the last 12 months and specific to the SICU specialty

Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS

Proficiency in Epic EMR required

Oncology experience preferred but not required

Travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered

Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required

Required clinical skills include: IV therapy, arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, port access and management, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, CRRT/CVVHD, vasopressor and cardiac drip titration, CVA/acute stroke management, continuous IV sedation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, and multisystem organ dysfunction management

2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (supervisor); a charge RN is acceptable as a second reference; coworker references are not accepted

Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Former employees of the facility are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation; current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible

All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to or at the time of consideration and will be built into the contract; RTO is limited to 7 days or fewer

Ohio state fingerprinting is required as part of the credentialing process and must be completed promptly after contract signing — candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or will receive a mailed packet requiring urgent completion
