Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with strong technical accounting skills and experience supporting financial operations within healthcare or related regulated environments. The Senior Accountant will lead month-end close activities, prepare financial statements and management reports, manage treasury and banking tasks, support external audits, and provide cost management and financial analysis to drive operational efficiency and compliance with labor laws and DOL regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and execute month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses for management and external stakeholders.

Provide financial analysis and cost management support, including budgeting, forecasting, trend analysis, and identification of cost-saving opportunities.

Manage treasury and banking activities including cash forecasting, bank reconciliations, and intercompany cash movements.

Ensure compliance with labor laws and Department of Labor (DOL) regulations as they pertain to payroll accounting and related financial controls.

Coordinate and support external audits, providing schedules, documentation, and explanations to auditors in a timely manner.

Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies and procedures to strengthen financial governance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, operations, clinical departments) to support financial processes, resolve issues, and implement process improvements.

Mentor and support junior accounting staff; may supervise staff accountants and review their work to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.

Utilize MS Office, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, macros, complex formulas), and accounting systems to streamline reporting and analysis.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA is a strong plus.

3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior Staff Accountant or General Accountant experience required; healthcare industry experience preferred.

Proven experience with month-end close, preparation of financial statements, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.

Strong financial analysis skills with experience in cost management, budgeting, and forecasting.

Experience managing treasury functions, bank reconciliations, and cash forecasting.

Working knowledge of labor laws and DOL regulations as they relate to accounting and payroll compliance.

Experience supporting external audits and preparing audit-ready documentation.

Advanced proficiency with MS Office and Excel; familiarity with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Sage, QuickBooks) and reporting tools.

Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and mentor junior staff.
