Southwestern Cardiac Arrhythmia is a fast-growing cardiology and electrophysiology practice in El Paso, Texas with offices also in neighboring New Mexico state. We are a private practice but our physician(s) hold faculty positions at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso and at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and are involved with teaching medical students and cardiology fellows.
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated nurse practitioner (NP) to join our growing staff. The individual in this role would be responsible for working alongside our physician(s) and facilitating advanced specialty nursing services to our patients. Candidates should hold a nurse practitioner license in the state of Texas. The individual should be willing to practice in El Paso and neighboring Las Cruces.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate new patient consultation, follow ups and health history review (inpatient and outpatient settings)
- Perform physical examinations and screenings of patients
- Order and administer tests including bloodwork
- Review and interpret test results
- Diagnose health problems
- Detect changes in patient conditions
- Administer medications
- Operate medical equipment
- Recommend further treatment options or future appointments if needed
- Provide referrals to other practitioners when necessary
- Provide aftercare/ongoing care information and resources to patients and their families
- Ensure patient records are kept up to date including test results, immunizations, condition changes, etc.
- Consult with other healthcare professionals as needed
- Deliver quality, physician-level care while complying with company policies, safety regulations, and productivity metrics
- Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing required
- Current state nurse practitioner license required
- 1+ ears nursing experience preferred but not compulsory
- Cardiology experience preferred but not compulsory
- Strong knowledge base of HIPAA and OSHA required
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patient, compassionate nature
- Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and other nurses
- Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment
- Must be familiar with the EHR medical charting system
- Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems preferred
- Prescriptive authorization required
- Disease prevention knowledge required
